He told me to stop taking Lithium , which I did for yrs , but I had stopped it months before that visit , for I hated it . I have my next visit next July, where he will tell whether I have it or not. My main problem is my speech. It feels like if the back of my tongue is "loose".

    This video is a Must See for understanding what Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Speech Language Therapy is and how it improves your quality of life for those suffering with Parkinson's. Learned so much in each category and how important each specialty working together is. I now understand how they work together for the benefit of the patient. I appreciate the presenter's expertise in this field; yet presented in a way non medical persons can understand. Extremely relatable! Thank you for explaining the importance of social interactions and staying active and busy, and how your experienced staff work with the patients to find their individualized goals. I didn't realize so much can be done without medication for this disease. I will be sending this information to my family and friends afflicted with Parkinson's in hopes they make appointments here! Thanks again Mrs. Warren. Helpful video! 👍

      It is. The steps in research are important as they help to show that the new treatment is safe and effective. At Fixel, our interdisciplinary approach takes advantage of approved therapies that work for our patients. That may include medicine, surgery, therapy (PT, OT, Speech). Then we also have clinical trials that patients can participate in.

      @RobertKamperTX 2 місяці тому

      It can... slurring of words, difficulty in control over breath, forming the words, etc. But there are therapies (breathing, singing, speech therapy, to name a few) that can help counteract the problems one might encounter. And every person with parkinson's is different - thus the saying: "If you've seen one person with Parkinson's, you've seen one person with Parkinson's."

    • @FixelInstitute

    I suffered from severe constipation for over ten years. But, as a result of developing Non-Hidgkin’s Lymphoma, weight loss became a significant problem. After trying multiple diets, my nutritionist suggested I increase my protein and calorie intake significantly. And, because of the swallowing problem that is common with patients with Parkinson’s, my home health care provider started making me clear jello, mixed with canned fruit, and instead of using water, she used a high protein clear drink to dissolve the jello in. (Now remember, I had to go to the ER 4 times in 4 years for blocked bowls as a result of the constipation). Within less than one week of eating this high protein, high calorie jello combination once a day, my stool became softer, my bowls started moving at least once a day; and my constipation symptoms suddenly disappeared. Actually, I had to be careful because my stool was so soft that I sometimes moved my bowls before I could get to a bathroom. So, I wear make pampers in case of an accident! But, also, my anxiety caused by constipation immediately stopped and my energy level improved. I don’t know if this will work for every Parkinson’s patient; but, it has significantly helped me.

    Wonderful training (video). I wish I had heard this about 2 months ago. I have PD and recently had cataract surgery (left eye). It went well and one week post op my ophthalmologist/surgeon says my eye looks fine. The 2nd surgery for the right eye is the end of Feb. (2024). I’m an anxious type person esp. with the PD which reduces dopamine. Friends who have had this surgery, said it is a “piece of cake’. My med was Versed for the surgery. The surgery only takes about 10 mins. I tried to time my PD meds just right for the surgery. But hospital schedules are not always on time, and I think my PD meds had begun to wear off before surgery. I “woke” during surgery, but my doc says people are supposed to be awake during surgery with Versed. I was moving my head, my legs, and probably hand; and they told me to try to hold still. I must have dozed off bec. 3:00 pm or so was my normal "fall asleep at the tv" time.I was anxious that I had woken up bec. I thought I wasn’t supposed to. (The next day I even asked my surgeon if I had dreamed it or if it really happened. She said yes, I was awake at that time and we had the conversation about holding still). It did not hurt, just scared me. I could feel the cold eye drops, and saw a gray shadowy form above my eye of what looked like some little tools ; although I thought the light was supposed to be so bright I wouldn’t be able to see anything. I’ve had Versed for 3 colonoscopies and have never “woken” up. Now I’m a little worried about the 2nd eye surgery. Mostly that I might inadvertently move my head again, because there is nothing holding it in place on the gurney/bed. I must have inadvertently turned my head, not being fully awake. I wish they had a light Velcro thing or frame to hold the head in place. I also have sleep apnea, and possibly REM sleep disorder along with it. Age 76, and I’ve had PD about 20 years and have managed fairly well with the meds. Thanks againn for the great video. Sorry for babbling on.

You mentioned vegetables that contain natural nicotine, which, when eaten, has an alleviating or preventing effect on Parkinson's disease. Ptaah: 65. That is correct. 66. Pure vegetables, such as tomatoes, peppers, aubergines and cauliflower, etc., which contain natural nicotine are effective against Parkinson's if eaten frequently. 67.
